Shoko Nagai (piano, processing) and Satoshi Takeishi (percussion, electronics)
Satoshi Takeishi and Shoko Nagai performs under the name “VORTEX”.
They have been incorporating Piano, Accordion, Organ, Percussion and
several other acoustic instruments with electronics to do live performances
around the world. Their music is based on both composition and
improvisation. Their mission is to integrate all the possibilities of musical
elements accessible to them. They music has been described as “almost
visible to the listener”. They have performed in several cities in US, Japan
and Europe. NYFA 2010 winner.
Aside from performing live concerts, they also score music for dance,
theater and films. In every case, adopting the musical textures to fit the
mood of the project. A few of the recent work include, a full feature film
“Starfish Hotel” directed by John Williams, and a documentary film “ANPO”
directed by Linda Hoaglund which is showing world wide and Guggenheim
museum in NYC.
