Percussionists Trevor Saint and Bill Solomon present a portrait concert of Matt Sargent’s extended-length works for solo percussion and resonant metals. Described by the composer as a “sanctuary space that can fit in a suitcase”, the concert is a body of fragile, expansive, and intricately patterned musical works that focus into the inner sonic life of a small collection of metal objects.
“Saint” (2013) for solo glockenspiel will be heard in its premiere performance, performed by Trevor Saint, who commissioned the work for his ongoing pretty/noisy/bell glockenspiel repertoire project. “Ghost Music” (2008), an hour-long composition for sustaining metal instruments, will be performed by Bill Solomon of Ensemble Signal.
