Last Easter, 2012, Dzieci was invited to create a Passion for Holy Week

at The Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, Connecticut,
enacted by a small group of nuns from that community.

The experience was life changing for all involved,
and has inspired Dzieci to refine this sacred liturgy to its essence,
in order to create a ritual not bound by any one religion.

A Passion
According to St. Matthew

Theatre Group Dzieci (djyeh-chee), founded in 1997 by Matt Mitler,

uses techniques garnered from Jerzy Grotowski and the Polish Theatre Laboratory,

Peter Brook, humanistic psychology, and ritual forms derived from Native American

and Eastern spiritual disciplines in a search for the “sacred” through the medium of theatre.

Dzieci balances work on performance with work of service, and is committed to Art as a path for transformation.

The company has been presented in schools, hospitals, and houses of worship, including The Cathedral Saint John the Divine,

where their signature piece, Fools Mass, has been an annual event for the past twelve seasons.
