Drink, listen, play and expect the unexpected… >>Party and Play: NYC’s most daring contemporary musicians reading modern music at first sight! Party and Play is a modern music chamber party co-curated by String Noise and John Glover. Bring your piece or intrument to read down new work on sight, listen to the curated concert hour, or just come as an audience member to take it all in.

Party and Play is a new kind of concert platform combining the casual comfort of a house party with the highest standards in artistry and performance. Part curated concert and part free-for-all, musicians and composers are invited to sign up for the house band or propose works for the curated concert, or just show up the night of with a score or instrument in hand for reduced admission. Audiences are invited to witness the unexpected as we give first readings or second hearings to new chamber works. Everything from the avant-garde and experimental to dinger/songwriters are welcome.

Drinks are free with admission! Doors open at 7:30pm and the party lasts until midnight. We’ll round out the night with a group reading of Philip Glass’s Music in Fifths. Deadline for submission of pieces for the curated hour and sign-up for the house band is midnight, January 27th. Email: contactpartyandplay@gmail.com. Include instrumentation and duration of piece! (acoustic, electronics, video, instrumentalists, singers, dancers are all welcome) House band and line-up will be announce on Monday, February 3rd.

$10 advanced, or at the door if you have your instrument or a score in hand for the free-for-all
