Originally from Brisbane, Australia, Lisa Maree Dowling is a Bassist, Improviser, Singer and Composer living in Brooklyn, New York. Her playing has been described as “Energetic and Precise” by the New York Times and her compositions have been hailed as “Sublime and Lovely” by Bruce Gallanter of the Downtown Music Gallery. As a versatile artist Lisa performs a wide variety of music including baroque, experimental, contemporary classical, classical, jazz and hip-hop. She is celebrated for her fresh and enthusiastic interpretation and commitment to contemporary classical music and brings this energy to the commissioning and presentation of new works by emerging and established composers. Based in New York City and known for his passion for whacky sounds, improvisation, flute beatboxing and electro-acoustic performance, Shaun Barlow is a flutist with attitude. In demand as a soloist, chamber musician and educator, he was a fellow at the 2011 Bang on a Can Summer Festival (USA), is flutist and producer with the New York City-based ExhAust New Music Collective and is Junior Program Coordinator for the Australian Flute Festival. He has taken lessons with Alexa Still, Robert Dick, Molly Barth, Greg Pattillo, Bonita Boyd, Susan Palma-Nidel, Aldo Baerten, Michel Bellevance and performed in masterclasses with John Wion, Michael Cox, Katherine Kemler and Ashley Solomon. Equally at home performing in the concert hall, the opera pit or busking on a street corner, Shaun is keenly interested in finding ever more inventive musical roles for the flute.
