Kate Mohanty, a saxophonist of 18 years, is a solo artist residing in Brooklyn. This performance is a series of improvisations. Although her training in both classical and jazz forms has influenced these improvisations, Kate feels that her musical spontaneity comes from a place other than formal study. Her strong feeling that music be felt as a form of art, and not as a separate category removed from “art”, must not be contained.
