Kaufman Music Center’s Face the Music returns to The Firehouse Space!
Face the Music will give the world premiere of three new pieces. One of the most daring projects this season has been Improv Hour, a selected group of 15 teenagers who have a unique craft for experimenting with new methods of improvising music. This season, they riffed on rhythmic cycles by Daniel Bernard Roumain, arranged a New Music chart by Vasudevan Panicker, and played a painting by Rajesh Mehta. Now, Improv Hour will perform “Check No Eye”, a post-rock game-piece based on visual cues. Face the Music performer-composer, Owen Carter, will give the world premiere of his two-piano arrangement of “Fearful Symmetries” by John Adams. Face the Music performer-composer, Yonatan Rozin, will give the world premiere of “Walk Through Windy Days”, performed alongside FTM staff members.
