Brooklyn Art Song Society is proud to announce it’s fall Masterworks series: Schubert: The Last Year. Facing the inevitability of his own untimely demise at 31 years of age, Franz Schubert (1797-1828) composed an astonishing quantity of music of unearthly beauty in the last 365 days of his life. Brooklyn Art Song Society is proud to present the complete song cycles, miscellaneous songs, and representative two- and four- hand piano works from the most inspired year of the most inspired composer of art song. Each of the four recitals will feature some of the best vocalists and pianists in New York City -including BASS debuts by soprano Martha Guth and pianist Spencer Myer. From the tragic bleakness of Winteriese (11/18/12) to the joyful exuberance of the great A Major Piano Sonata (10/13/12) each program is sure to be a memorable experience and essential attendance for classical music lovers.
