Anne Bassen: Dance, Edith Lettner:  Edith Lettner, Alto/ Soprano Sax and Dudek,  Warren Smith: Drums

This trio, Bassen/ Lettner/ Smith is performing together for the first time. All three have a passion for and vast experience in the genre of Improvisational Performance. These three versatile artists will communicate in different constellations of sound, movement and rhythms.

Warren Smith is a world renowned percussionist and composer, a master of all things percussive including drums and vibraphone. He was a co-founder of Max Roach’s M’Boom ensemble and has played with numerous famous musicians such as Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis and many others.

Anne Bassen has been a Dancer, Choreographer and Improviser in the areas of Dance, Music and Theater for the last twenty five years. Her Choreography has won awards and Grants from such notable Institutions as the NEA, The Puffin Foundation, The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and others. She collaborates with Jazz Musicians Vocalizing and Dancing, and has performed with Daniel Carter, Edith Lettner, Butch Morris, Charles Ramsey, Yasuno Katsuki and others. Ms. Bassen is delighted to have an ongoing collaboration with Edith Lettner.

The Viennese saxophonist, composer and painter Edith Lettner has worked with numerous musicians from all over the world and also likes to collaborate with artist from different genres, such as dancers, visual artists and poets. She has been greatly enriched by her residencies in Africa, Armenia and New York. One of her projects, African Jazz Spirit, which she founded in Dakar, Senegal, won the Austrian World Music Award 2014. Edith has also composed theater and film music.
