The Sara McDonald Orchestra is a 22 piece large ensemble comprised of a 17 piece big band with vocals, and a string quartet. This group does not play jazz, period. The orchestra is an indie-rock-pop group that just happens to share a similar instrumentation to that of a big band. The sounds that will emanate from the bellows of this intricately crafted machine, will be unlike any you’ve ever heard before from a “big band.” The sounds are vibrant and layered, dreamy and at times even aggressive. Plus, the group is just incredibly fun to watch! You don’t want to miss the Sara McDonald Orchestra – informally and affectionately known as The New York Chillharmonic.
