Pat Irwin (Electric Guitar) and Eleonor Sandresky (Piano)

In 2013 Spectrum invited Eleonor Sandresky to create a collaboration series where each month she would be working with a different composer/performer. Rock guitarist Pat Irwin joined her in August, and their continuing collaboration is a result of those initial exploreations. For Sandresky and Irwin the opportunity to collaborate is the opportunity to explore, and share, beyond their own musical experiences.

Sandresky is a classically trained pianist and composer. She has performed extensively on concert stages around the world as a member of the Philip Glass Ensemble, with Essential Music, and others, as well as performing her own solo compositions. She has performed and premiered works by composers as diverse as Don Byron, Egberto Gismonti and William Russell. She is currently completing a commission from Parhenia Ensemble of Viols as well as composing a film score for filmmaker Erika Suderburg’s latest art film, Wunderkammern. ‘Like’ on Facebook.

In the late ’70′s, Irwin was a founding member of the Raybeats as well as Eight Eyed Spy, with Lydia Lunch. He joined the B-52s in 1989 and played guitar and keyboards with the band for 18 years. He is currently composing the score for the award winning Showtime series, Nurse Jackie. The Ryabeats’ recent cd, The Lost Philip Glass Sessions, has been released on Orange Mountain Music. The cd features recordings that were started with Philip Glass and members of his ensemble in 1982 but were never completed until thirty years later.
