The Yoni Kretzmer Quartet is Yoni Kretzmer (Tenor Saxophone), Eric Plaks (Piano), Pascal Niggenkemper (Double Bass), and Ehran Elisha (Drums).
Yoni Kretzmer’s newest project takes upon itself to deal with one of the most famous of jazz combos: the sax-piano-bass-drum quartet. In this band the piano is placed as a constant, spreading layers of sound and bedding the pieces with lush chords and clusters.
The compositions hold within them a naïve yet provocative sound, giving a notion of familiarity and obscurity. Within these full sounding pieces that maintain a high energy, another tune, a fragile tune, from inside the music can be heard.
