The Unheard-of Project connects new audiences with composers at the forefront of contemporary composition. Unheard-of brings together composers to create new works, bringing these compositions to communities and institutions across the United States through touring and outreach. In its second year, the project continues to impact new communities, aiming to spark original collaborations between musicians and composers. The 2016-2017 Unheard-of//Ensemble project features new works for clarinet, cello, and piano trio. The featured composers are Jay Lin, Christina Volpini, Alan Hankers, Phil Salathe, Howie Kenty, Joe Sferra, and Flannery Cunningham. During the 2015-2016 project year, Unheard-of brought six new works for clarinet across different mediums to Alabama, Georgia, Pennsylvania, New York, and Texas with performances at the University of Alabama- Birmingham, Marywood University, University of Tennessee- Knoxville, Tarleton State University, and Troy University as well as radio features on 89.3 Montreal, WTSU 89.9, and 90.1 WUSB.
