Germán González: Guitar, Eddy Khaimovich: Double  Bass,  Jon Di Fiore: Drums

This unique double bill concert – presenting both contemporary classical music and contemporary jazz  – explores different musical languages and how they influence each other in compositional practices as well as on the stage during free improvisation sessions. The audience will have the opportunity to hear New York City’s younger generation of performers take on contemporary music, both jazz and classical.

This concert will feature George Crumb, Christian Wolff, Gerard Grisey and some of the youngest New York City’s composition generation – premiere of Luke Schwartz’s “Gust” for solo piano, commissioned by Danica Borisavljevic.

German Gonzalez Trio is a jazz guitar trio that explores harmonically, rhythmically and compositionally new trends in modern jazz and creative music.  The compositions incorporate a variety of musical and stylistic influences including 20th Century composers, such as John Cage, Olivier Messiaen and Gyorgy Ligeti; contemporary jazz; free improvisation; post-rock and Brazilian rhythms.  The trio will feature Eddy Khaimovich, bass; Jon di Fiore, drums; and German Gonzalez, guitarist/composer.
