This session we will focus on Rasas and Soundpaint palettes inspired by Richard Schechner’s “Rasa Boxes.”

“Devised in the 1980s and 90s by Richard Schechner, rasaboxes offers performers a concrete physical tool to access, express, and manage their feelings/emotions within the context of performance. Useful as performer training, rasaboxes also has many other applications in various fields including (but not limited to) therapy, business, and education. Basically, rasaboxes trains participants to physically express eight key emotions first identified in the Natyasastra, a Sanskrit text dealing with theatre, dance, and music.” –Rasaboxes.org

“Advanced Soundpainting Session-Beginners Welcome.” We cover new concepts around this live-composing sign language, and share new ideas. Beginners can ‘swim’ and ask questions, and a short overview of gestures can also be done before diving in with the rest of the group. Hosted each month by two Soundpainter hosts, these sessions will cover a variety of live-composition topics and will concentrate on different disciplines such as: acting, dancing/movement, lighting design, visual art, music, electronic music. Join us every third Sunday of the month. Soundpainting hosts include: Mark Lindberg, Evan Mazunik, Gil Selinger, Dennis Shafer, Tomi Tsunoda, and Leese Walker, each leaders of their own Soundpainting ensembles in New York
