Based in New York City, Phoenix Quartet’s performances center around Olivier Messiaen’s masterwork Quartet for the End of Time. For the 2015-16 season, Phoenix launches The End of Time Deconstructed, a large-scale commissioning project. They have assembled a cadre of internationally-acclaimed composers to contribute reinterpretations of Messiaen’s masterpiece; since Quartet consists of eight relatively short and somewhat disjointed movements, the composers’ new pieces will be played together as a brand new unit and used to supplement the original work. On February 19th, come hear Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time refreshed with remixes by a diverse group of composers, including Rebecca Erin Smith (Australia), Emily Praetorius (NY), Tyler Kline (FL), and Scott Rubin (CA).
