Old Time Musketry plays a joyous music that draws on the exuberant spirit of early jazz, the poignant melodies and soulful grooves of rock and folk music, the energy and spontaneity of free improvisation, and a willfully experimental attitude towards combining these elements into a unique vision of American music. The instrumental combinations of accordion, piano, saxophone, clarinet, electric keyboards, bass, and marching bass drum give the band the ability to sound like a jazz quartet one minute, and a village folk music ensemble the next. Since forming in Brooklyn in 2009, the band has developed its sound through years of performances and tours in New York and across the Northeast.
The band will be celebrating the release of their first album, “Different Times”, which was released by the newly-launched SteepleChase LookOut label this fall. “Different Times” offers a panoramic first glimpse into the intriguing musical world of Old Time Musketry.
