LONELINESS as STYLE presents: A Night with Judith Berkson and Jeanann Dara
Vocalist, pianist and composer Judith Berkson has performed with City Opera, The American Festival of Microtonal Music and the Kronos Quartet. She has presented solo music for voice, piano and analog keyboards at Roulette, Picasso Museum Malaga, Joe’s Pub, and the Stone. She received a Jerome Foundation Grant and a Six Points Fellowship in 2012 to complete work on “The Vienna Rite” a chamber opera written for the New York based ensemble Yarn/Wire. Her record “Oylam” (ECM) features music for voice, wurlitzer, piano, organ and Fender Rhodes.

Jeanann Dara is a Brooklyn based violist, violinist, electronic composer, multimedia artist, and curator. She received her undergraduate degree from The Juilliard School and her Masters degree in Multimedia Composition at New York University. She is a leading freelance violist playing with ensembles such as Wordless Music Orchestra and is an experienced lecturer with institutions such as UC Irvine, NYU, and festivals throughout Italy, Spain and Romania. She is currently completing the EP under the project name KO that includes performers Brian Chase, Maria Minerva, Sam Hilmer and Jherek Bischoff. She will be going into the studio shortly with her drone ensemble, The Western Enisphere, to record their first full length recording.
On this night she will be performing works for solo viola and with collaborators John King and David First.
