screen-shot-2016-09-09-at-1-07-18-pmAmerican guitarist/composer, Trevor Babb, is a versatile and adventurous musician based in New Haven, CT. He has devoted the majority of his professional energy to contemporary music and performs on classical guitar, electric guitar, and other plucked instruments.

Mr. Babb has received several awards and recognitions including a Fulbright Award, the Yale School of Music’s Eliot Fisk Prize, and top prize in the 2016 Denver Classical Guitar Competition. He has performed throughout the US and internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. He has collaborated with the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra, Caution Tape Sound Collective, New England Chamber Players, New Haven Guitar Quartet, Aeon Ensemble, and the Yale Band.

As a passionate advocate of new music, Trevor actively composes and performs his own music, and has given countless premieres by established and emerging composers. His forthcoming debut recording features original music for multiple electric guitar along with several premiere recordings by emerging composers. Many contemporary music festivals have hosted him as a fellow including the Nief-Norf Summer Festival, Bang on a Can Summer Festival, and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival New Music Workshop.

 

Mr. Babb holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music and a Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music. He also studied for a year at the Haute École de Musique de Genève in Geneva, Switzerland and is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Yale School of Music. His principal teachers have been Nicholas Goluses, Benjamin Verdery and Dusan Bogdanovic.
