Dr. Faustus presents: Ensemble 365 5 New works plus Break Out, a premiere by Sandra Sprecher played by Sprecher and Tendler, and a performance of Pierrot Lunaire featuring soprano Sara Paar
New York’s contemporary music scene is singularly vast in scope, perhaps impossible to cover with a single series. With this residency at The Firehouse Space, Dan Blake brings together a range of collaborations that at least begins to represent the diversity of experiences and musical styles he has witnessed while living in New York.
The fifth and final concert of this season will feature Ensemble 365 in collaboration with the commissioning series Dr. Faustus. Ensemble 365 will perform new works by Inès Thiebaut, Greg Brown, Eric Nathan, André Brégégère, and Elizabeth Adams. Also on the program will be a performance of Schoenberg’s masterpiece Pierrot Lunaire, sung by Sara Paar and her ensemble. Also the evening includes a premiere of Break Out a new compostition for 2 pianos and electronics played by the composer Sandra Sprecher and Adam Tendler.
Ensemble 365: Mary Hubbell (Voice), Alice Jones (Flute), Karen Rostron (Violin/Viola), Mirna Lekic (Piano)
Pierrot Ensemble: Sara Paar (Soprano), Emily Vold (Violin/Viola), Melissa Keeling (Flute/Piccolo), Ashleé Miller (Clarinet/Bass Clarinet), Caroline Bean (Cello), Audrey Abela (Piano)
