**As seen in Time Out New York**

Dances of the World Chamber Orchestra consists of Diana Wayburn (Flute, Piano, Composition), Jeff Newell (Flute), Adam Matthes (Viola), Dara Hankins (Cello), John Murchison (Double Bass), Bert Hill (French Horn), Spencer Hale (Trombone), Yonatan Avi Oleiski (Percussion).

Much of the music is inspired by the rhythms of Guinea as well as other music genres such as tango, classical music and jazz. The written orchestration is inspired by the conversations of the West African djembes and dun duns which often have as many as 5 different rhythmic ideas playing together. Some of the music is through composed but other pieces are developed with improvisation. The underlying inspiration of the music is the dance music of different cultures.

Dances of the World Chamber Orchestra recently completed a CD entitled, “Dances of the World.”

“NYC is filled with great composers who rarely get the recognition they well deserve…The majority of this disc is taken up by the “West African Suite” which is a sublime, elegant work…a fine…effort from one of New York’s better under-recognized composers.” - Bruce Gallanter, Downtown Music Gallery, NYC
