New York’s contemporary music scene is incomparably vast in scope, perhaps impossible to cover with a single series. With this residency at The Firehouse Space, Dan Blake brings together a range of collaborations that at least begins to represent the diversity of experiences and musical styles in music.
At 8pm, the Homework Trio brings together Dan Blake, Richie Barshay, and Jorge Roeder who will revive music they have developed over their more than decade long musical relationship. Their music creates a unique fusion out of an eclectic range of musical interests they have pursued over the years including folkloric music of the Americas, Brazilian choro, American avant garde, and North Indian classical music.
At 9pm, Coriolis Cacophonous presents new compositions by pianist Jonah Rosenberg, bringing together James Ilgenfritz, Sam Kulik and Federico Ughi.
