(BROOKLYN, NEW YORK) Composer’s Voice Artistic Director, Douglas DaSilva celebrates his 50th year on earth by sharing a unique and celebratory musical experience 7:30pm, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Firehouse Space, 246 Frost Street, Brooklyn, NY.

This concert features the World Premiere of Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame: Re-Imaginging Beethoven, Stephen Porter, piano-15 one-minute works by 15 composers Alberto Alassio, Aaron Alter, Bracha Bdil, Daniel Cocchetti, Paul Dickinson, Alessandro Giannotti, Peter Gilbert, S.R. Kisselbaugh, Kamil Kosecki, Mathieu Daniel Polak, Aurelio Scotto, Mateo Soto,  David Nelson Tomasacci,  Anne-Marie Turcotte, and Peter Walton,

The Composer’s Voice Concert Series is an opportunity for contemporary composers to express their aesthetic and personal voice. Founded in 2001 by Robert Voisey, Composer’s Voice has presented hundreds of concerts in New York City. The series has premiered thousands of works from living composers from around the world. Works are chosen from a wide range of contemporary composers of different styles, aesthetics, and genre. The works are performed by dedicated musicians devoted to new music. Performances are recorded and archived to further promote new music, performers, and composers. Douglas DaSilva’s compositions have been described as “very individual, and to us has a very clear personality” in Classical Guitar Magazine. As curator of new music he has produced hundreds of concerts in New York City and collaborated internationally:  “DaSilva knows just how to tempt you with a delicious array of musical desserts that titillate your ear.” NM421 

The Composer’s Voice Concert Series, listed as “One of the premier showcases for promising composers” by Time Out New York, will present music and performances by Joseph Bohigian, Sara Bong, Ford Fourqurean, Marisol Gentile, Fermino Gomes, Masatora Goya, Markus Kaitila, Eiko Kano, Tzu-En Lee, Lish Lindsey, Kristen Mather, Daniel Mihai, Thomas Piercy, Max Pollak,, Gene Pritsker, Chatori Shimizu, Yumi Suehiro, Jason Ulysses, and Robert Voisey.

Max Pollak is recognized worldwide for his superior musicianship and his highly individual style as the first person to merge authentic Afro-Cuban music and dance with American rhythm tap and body music to create RumbaTap. His original a-cappella vocal arrangements have been hailed by the NY Times, his work with classical composers, symphonic and chamber orchestras is unique in the world.

Assistant Concertmaster for the Albany Symphony, Eiko Kano, performs regularly with the New York Philharmonic and has appeared as a soloist of Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and Vienna Mozart Chamber Orchestra.

Acclaimed clarinetist Thomas Piercy’s performances have been described by critics as “passionate,” “pulling out all the stops,” “the best Piazzolla in NYC,” and by the New York Times as “brilliant,” “playing with refinement and flair” and “evoking a panache in the contemporary works.”

Composer, producer, singer, & Vox Novus Founder Robert Voisey has been described as “mad” by the New York Times and publications around the globe.  The LA Times highlighted Voisey as a composer using creativity to get his work heard.
