This concert features solo piano music of Bach, Brahms and Ives. A varied program, it showcases the intellectualism of Bach’s Preludes and Fugues, the inherent beauty of Brahms’ latest work for solo piano and the charming schizophrenia of Ives’ First Sonata, demonstrating how these three masterful, distinctive composers utilize the piano as a means of musical expression.

Pianist Andrea Lodge has been called a “must see” (The Telegram, St. John’s NL). A proud native of outport Newfoundland, Canada, Andrea specializes in the performance of contemporary piano music. She was awarded top prizes at the Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition for the Performance of New Music. Her passion for contemporary music has brought her to New York, where she actively plays and premieres new works as soloist and with Iktus+ new music ensemble.

Andrea is currently completing a DMA at Stony Brook University with professors Gilbert Kalish and Christina Dahl. She holds the positions of Staff Accompanist at SUNY Suffolk, is the director of the Stony Brook University Adult Chamber Music program, coaches chamber music with the Stony Brook Pre-College and Community Music programs, and is Co-Artistic Director of the Chamber Music@Southampton concert series.
